There are a lot of things that determine what things are priceless and what things are not. It depends on the person because there are certain things that mean a lot to some people but are worthless to others. I will be sharing some items that are very important to me which are priceless and items that don’t have much value to me that I can put a price on.

One item that I can put a price on that I could always replace is my house. I feel that your home should be important to you because that is where you live, but I think there are a lot of more important things in life than a house. What makes a house a home is what you surround yourself with and the people you live with not the actual house itself.

Another item that I can price is my computer. Again, I think that its what you do on the computer that matters, not the actual computer because you can replace it and do the same stuff you did on the other one. I also personally don’t care much about a computer because there are more things that I would prefer doing.

The last item that I could put a price on is my phone. There are more important things in life than to be on your phone all the time. If your phone breaks, and you really want another phone, then get one. I think that people who matter to you are more important than an electronic device.

I think that family, friends, and animals are one category as priceless because any person, animal, or living being that you care about should be one of the most priceless things to you. There are a lot of people in life that you are not going to get along with or agree with but the people who care about you won’t take advantage of you and will always be by your side no matter what.

Another thing that is priceless to me is the words that people use. What I mean by this is anything that someone says that makes you react in a positive way or feel some kind of emotion. An example is music because you can choose to react on a positive, negative, or a neutral way. When somebody that means a lot to you says something that you either like or dislike it can change your opinion of them and affect your mood.

The most priceless thing to me is life. Life is a wonderful journey because you choose what you make of your life. You define your life. You can control your own thoughts and beliefs and the actions you take and nobody can tell you otherwise. Life is the most wonderful thing that can happen to you even if you think it is the worst thing that could happen to you.

Speak Final Assessment
1. One of the times my inner voice and outer voice were in disagreement was when I was failing some of my classes and didn’t ask for help. I don’t think I spoke up and asked my teachers about it was because I felt like I couldn’t keep up with all of my work. This action caused myself and my parents to be upset that I was getting bad grades and I had a lot of work to catch up on. I can relate to this now because my grades aren’t very good although I am staying after and doing all that I can to make up the work that I missed. I wanted to ask for help when I needed it but I felt really stressed out with all the work I was missing so I didn’t say anything. This problem could have easily been solved if I had just asked for help ahead of time before I had a lot of work to catch up on. My outer voice was to not say anything and I made the wrong decision by doing that because I need to do the work in order to bring up my grades and be happy with how I am doing

2. One of the times my inner voice and outer voice were in harmony was when people were talking about my brother and calling him names so I said something to them because they were being unfair and I wanted to stand up for my brother and nobody should treat him like that. I felt that it was right to do because I am not going to let anyone talk to my brother in that way. They were bullying him and they were wrong for doing that so I told them not to talk to him like that. I think that if you see somebody getting bullied and picked on you should think about how you would feel if you were them and stand up for that person.

3a. I think that Melinda’s inner voice helps her through the tough times she has because she can be funny and sarcastic. The way she thinks about certain situations in her head aren’t ever heard because she is too afraid to speak aloud.

Book review 1

Quarter 1 Outside reading book
Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer. October 1, 2006. Genre:Fiction
Miranda, the main character in Life As We Knew It has to fight for her life when asteroids hits the moon on Wednesday, May 18. It creates worldwide disasters because when the moon shifts, so does the environment. It wipes out many coastal cities, killing millions of people. There is a very limited supply of food which leads many people to starvation and murder just to get food from people. Miranda and her brother can no longer go to school and there is no supplies at the grocery store left for people to buy. How long can Miranda survive with minimal food and water, no heat or electricity, and subzero temperatures.

The conflict in the book is that the world is coming to an end and people are running out of supplies and resources. Miranda just wants to lead a normal life but she can’t because of what is going on around her.

The theme of the book is to never give up, always have hope and look on the bright side.

“We may not have a future, but you can’t deny we have a past.” -Miranda

This quote shows that even though the future isn’t looking so good, she has lived a good life in the past and that is all that matters.

I give this book 4 paws - pounce on it, because it was a good story and I really enjoyed it, but at times it could be confusing and parts of the book didn’t make sense.

5 words that describe Melinda

Mysterious- I think Melinda is mysterious because she barely talks to anyone and doesn’t share what she is feeling with other people. She also hides her emotions from people a lot of times and she always keeps her thoughts to herself.

Miserable- I think Melinda is miserable because since the party she has been very traumatized. The friends she used to have now hate her and she doesn’t have anyone to talk to.

Sarcastic- Melinda is very sarcastic when talking to herself because it helps her deal with some of her problems by being humorous. I think this is a good way for her to express her feelings towards people when she is having a tough time.

Angry- When Melinda starts school and has no friends because of the incident at the party she tends to get upset at what is going on in her life. Nobody wants to talk to her and she is always alone because of what she did at the party. If people gave her a chance to explain herself i think she would be a lot happier but she would also have to be willing to communicate.

Vulnerable- I think the feeling that best describes Melinda would be vulnerable because she has caused a lot of anger towards other people. When she called the cops at the party a lot of people got fired from their jobs or got in trouble with the authorities.

Vulnerable
Melinda is vulnerable to a lot of bullying and mean behavior from other kids because of the night during the summer when she called the cops on Kyle’s party.”I get hosted in Spanish. “Linda means “pretty” in Spanish. This is a great joke. Mrs.Spanish Teacher calls my name. Some stand-up comic cracks, “No, Melinda no es linda.” They call me Me-no-linda for the rest of the period.” This passage in the book shows that Melinda is vulnerable to the teasing and bullying if other kids all because of one incident.

I don’t think it’s fair that Melinda is very vulnerable to bullying because she got raped at the party and did the right thing by calling the cops. The thing is she didn’t tell the cops she was raped so everybody thought she did it to get people in trouble. I don’t understand why people are so mad at her because i would think they would suspect something else going on because she wouldn’t just call the cops out of nowhere.

Summer Reading Essay

Still in progress...

Junior was walking down the long road that lead him to Reardan when he saw a girl standing on the side of the road. The girl was wearing a hoodie and jeans and she looked frightened with her arms crossed and her head down. Junior slowly approached the girl because he was worried about her although he was aware of the danger he could put himself in. The girl looked up at Junior and backed up a few feet. She was shaking and appeared to be scared or confused about what was happening. “What are you doing here?” said Junior.  The girl said nothing but just stared into his eyes. “Who are you?” asked Junior. “Why do you care?” said the girl in a quiet voice. “What are you doing standing on the side of the road? I need to get to school but I’m not leaving until you tell me what is going on?” said Junior.
